MORTARA CONTINUES TO SHOW HIS PACE Photo NewsSignature team driver Edoardo Mortara has continued to demonstrate his stunning pace in testing before the start of this year's Formula 3 Euroseries. The 20 year-old was quickest by over a second on day two of testing at the Nogaro circuit in France this week, characterised by wet and changeable conditions. In the morning the track was completely wet and Edoardo set a pace that no other driver could match. Conditions dried out during the afternoon, but the French-Italian driver's Dallara-Mercedes was still quickest. On the opening day of testing Edoardo concentrated on refining the car's set-up and trying out various options, including a change of gear ratios. Once he had found some settings he was happy with, he aimed to set some fast times on day two and succeeded brilliantly. Edoardo said: "It's obvious that a strong performance like this one is a real morale-booster not just for me but for the entire team, who have worked so hard to give me a car capable of doing this. I learnt a lot about car set-up during the opening day of the test, and I think these lessons were what enabled me to set fastest time on the second day. Conditions were very difficult, but I really like driving in the wet as the driver can make such a difference. It is very important for us not to get carried away though: this was just one test at one track, and there is a lot of hard work still to come if we want to be this quick everywhere." Mortara's first race meeting will be at Hockenheim in Germany from April 21-22. Before the race, he will take part in an official test session at the German circuit on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
