CARBONE SIGNS FOR THREE BOND IN JAPAN
Brazilian ace Fabio Carbone has concluded a deal to drive for the Three Bond Japanese Formula 3 team for the 2006 season.
The 25 year-old’s programme will take in 20 races over Japan’s most famous circuits, with a full schedule of testing.
Fabio, a former winner of the prestigious Marlboro Masters F3 Grand Prix in Zandvoort, has already embarked on his test programme in Japan. During the first two-day session, which took place on the Aida circuit last week, he topped the time sheets against strong opposition.
Fabio said: “My first impressions of the car and the team are very good. We’ve shown some extremely promising speed during our first test, and our firm aim this year is to win the championship. The Japanese F3 Championship is one of the most competitive series in the world, so I’m looking forward to some very exciting racing this year.”
Three Bond, a chemical technology company, has been at the cutting edge of Japanese Formula 3 since 2000. The team has developed an extremely competitive engine in-house matched to a Dallara chassis, which has resulted in three championships since 2003.
Fabio’s first race is on April 1 at the Fuji circuit.
