MORTARA STORMS FANTASTIC VICTORY AT BARCELONA Photo NewsSignature team driver Edoardo Mortara has won the opening formula 3 Euroseries race at Barcelona. The 20 year old started from sixth place on the grid, which became fifth when another competitor dropped ten places after an engine change. A lightning start in wet conditions took him up to second by the first corner, behind German Nico Hulkenberg. On lap 10, race leader made a mistake under pressure from Mortara and the French Italian driver took the lead keeping from then a solid pace. He drove faultlessly to the finish to claim his second win of the year and the first ever victory for a rookie on a Saturday’s race. The result propels him to second in the rookie's championship and eighth in the overall standings. He said: "it is a perfect result for me and for the Signature team, which has done a fantastic job all weekend so far. I had a really good feeling with the car, and I am aiming to maintain this in race two tomorrow. I am really enjoying it but I want to keep focus on the job we need to achieve tomorrow and on the last two meetings of the season". Edoardo’s next race will be at Barcelona tomorrow.
