MORTARA TO RACE AT MACAU WITH SIGNATURE
 Newly-crowned Formula 3 Euroseries rookie champion Edoardo Mortara, who drives for the Signature team, will race at the prestigious Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix on November 18. The street circuit of Macau is a legendary venue that unites all the top Formula 3 drivers from across the world, as they compete to win a race that has been claimed in the past by stars such as Michael Schumacher (winner in 1990) and Takuma Sato (winner in 2001).
The event will draw to a close a stunning 2007 season for Mortara, which saw him clinch the prestigious F3 Euroseries rookie title with two wins and two podiums in only his second season of racing cars. The French-Italian driver won the rookie category seven times in 20 races and holds the best qualifying record of all the F3 Euroseries rookie drivers, but Macau will bring a huge new challenge.
The narrow and bumpy street circuit contains some of the most demanding corners in world motorsport and is characterised by constantly-changing levels of grip. In total, more than 30 drivers will take the start after two qualifying sessions: making it one of the most hotly-contested events of the year, where dealing with traffic is an essential skill. On this very specialised circuit, Edoardo will benefit greatly from the renowned expertise of the Signature team – which won the race in 2003 with GP2 star Nicolas Lapierre.
Mortara commented: “I feel tremendously excited about this fantastic opportunity to race in such a famous event, and I am very grateful to Signature for making it happen. It will be the first time that I have competed at this level outside of Europe, and this adventure holds several unknown factors for me. But from what I hear of Macau, it sounds like a very unpredictable circuit that should suit my driving style.” Philippe Sinault, team principal of Signature – that will run three cars at Macau this year – commented: “We’ve been very impressed by Edoardo’s progress this year, which culminated in his conquest of the rookie championship, and so we thought that it was only fair to give him this opportunity to compete in what is commonly regarded as the ‘World Cup’ of Formula 3. I’m sure he will enjoy himself, and do a very good job for us.” Prior to leaving for Macau, Edoardo will concentrate on his physical preparation with an intensive Quadra Sports training course in Italy.
