CARBONE ANNOUNCES JAPANESE SUPER GT CHAMPIONSHIP DEAL Photo NewsBrazilian Fabio Carbone will race in the Japanese Super GT Championship this year, alongside his previously-announced Formula Nippon campaign. The 26 year-old will compete on the Super GT Championship with the prestigious Nakajima Racing team, and he is also driving for Dandelion Racing on the Formula Nippon Championship. The Nakajima squad was founded by ex-Formula 1 driver Satoru Nakajima, and will run the Honda NSX on this highly-competitive series. Fabio¹s team mate will be the experienced Frenchman Loic Duval, who has already accumulated a year’s knowledge of the category. However, Fabio and Loic know each other well, having been team mates in the past on the Formula 3 Euroseries. The Japanese Super GT Championship, which is designed for production-based sports cars, will take in nine race meetings around some of Japan’s most exciting circuits. In total, Fabio will take part in a minimum of 18 race weekends this year. His first Super GT race will be at Suzuka from March 17-18. The Brazilian already has plenty of experience of the tracks, having starred on the Japanese Formula 3 Championship last year. Fabio took two victories, three pole positions and eight podiums with the Threebond team to finish fourth in the title race. However, his experience of the Super GT Championship is much more limited. Fabio tested the car last December, and then again in January. He said: “I am enjoying my racing in Japan very much, so I look forward to adding this fantastic challenge to my exciting programme. The Japanese Super GT Championship is a very prestigious series that has featured some of the best drivers in motor sport, and I am really looking forward to getting started. Satoru Nakajima has given me a fantastic opportunity and I aim to repay his confidence in me. These GT cars are really good fun to drive, and also very spectacular to watch. I still have a lot to learn about them, but I will be trying my hardest!” For more information please contact: media@quadrasports.com www.fabiocarbone.com www.so-net.ne.jp/nakajimaracing Geneva 19/02/07
