Mortara sets promising pace in Magny-Cours test Photo NewsFrench-Italian driver Edoardo Mortara has finished the second day of Formula 3 Euroseries testing at Magny-Cours in France with the second-fastest time, underlining his promising form in the pre-season build-up.

The 21 year-old drives for the Signature team based in Bourges, south of Paris. This year, the team will use Volkswagen power for the first time – in combination with a new Dallara chassis. The Magny-Cours test was the last official session before the season gets underway at Hockenheim in Germany from April 12-13.

Edoardo, who was the 2007 rookie champion, commented: “This is the perfect way to end our preparation for the year ahead, so we’re obviously all very encouraged. We’ve been making steady and realistic progress throughout the off-season, so it’s good to see that our hard work is finally paying off. However, it’s also important to remember that testing and racing are two completely different things. It’s nice to set competitive times in testing – but the only thing that counts is what we do when it comes down to the actual competition.”

The Signature team spent the two-day test working on general set-up and aerodynamics in preparation for Hockenheim.
