RAGUES WINS FORMULA 3000 EXHIBITION RACE AT BOLOGNA MOTOR SHOW Photo NewsPierre Ragues, who has been one of the leading lights of the inaugural Formula Master Championship this year, won the Formula 3000 race that opened up the Bologna Motor Show in Italy this weekend.

The Frenchman beat top stars such as Nicolas Prost, the son of four-time Formula 1 Champion Alain Prost, and Johnny Cecotto Junior – the son of the two-time motorbike World Champion. The Bologna Motor Show has traditionally had a very strong motor sport element, with a circuit specially constructed around the exhibition centre. The Formula 3000 cars – which are designed to be just one step down from Formula 1 – provided a fantastic spectacle around the tight Bologna circuit, with their 3.0 V8 engines.

A series of knock-out contests saw Pierre race head-to-head against Prost for the final honours: a rival he knows well as the two Frenchmen competed against each other in Formula Campus back in 2003. After a thrilling encounter, Pierre won overall by just two-tenths of a second – in his first ever Formula 3000 race!

“I’m absolutely delighted to win such an exciting race,” said Pierre. “There was a really nice atmosphere throughout the whole race, and a very enthusiastic crowd of spectators. I enjoyed every minute of the race, especially the fight with Nicolas, and I can’t think of a better way to end the season.”
